Ongerup is located 410 kilometres south-east of Perth and 150 kilometres north-east of Albany, in the heart of Western Australia’s Great Southern region.

Its name comes from the Noongar word “Yonger”, meaning male kangaroo a strong part of the town’s identity and heritage.
